RE: National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, April 29, 2017
Dear Law Enforcement Leaders,
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is once again sponsoring the National Prescription Take-Back Day. This event continues to net thousands of pounds of unused prescription medication in Colorado and across the nation. It is one part of several important strategies aimed at reducing prescription drug abuse in our society.
I am writing to personally invite your agency to participate the Take-Back event scheduled for Saturday, April 29, 2017.
If your agency is already signed up to participate, I extend my sincere appreciation for your active involvement and community leadership in this public safety strategy.
If your agency has not participated before, I hope you will consider joining us for the collection drive on Saturday, April 29th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Your agency simply needs to provide a small number of personnel to collect the drugs from members of the community and place them in a container at a specified location in your community. DEA personnel will supply collection bags and coordinate the pick-up of the medications.
Please sign up by sending an email message to email@example.com. The DEA will provide each participating law enforcement agency with posters, handout materials and bags for collection. Visit www.dea.gov for additional information and to access the Partnership Toolbox.
You and your community partners can also access media-ready materials from Colorado’s Take Meds Seriously website, takemedsseriously.org (Resources: Toolkit). These materials can be downloaded and co-branded with your agency logo for use in your community.
Once again, thank you for your involvement in the Take-Back event and for your dedication to public safety in Colorado.
CYNTHIA H. COFFMAN
Colorado Attorney General
